UPDATE ON THE BEACON BUNNY RUNS 2016 (10K and 5K).
Access to Beacon Hill
Many of you may have noticed that work has started on a new entry system at the bottom Car Park. This has closed the entry and notices state this is for 6 weeks. The top car park work actually took longer but is now complete.
Rest assured that we have an agreement with Leicester County Council that on the 23rd and 24th April we will be able to get in and use the bottom car park. Despite the problems we will still have to charge the entry fee of £2.50 per vehicle as this goes straight to LCC to help with the upkeep of the Park. It is still cheaper to park in the top car park and use our free minibus service to the start.
We have been asked by a number of entrants if there will be medals this year. I can confirm that the medals are ordered and will be given out to all finishers on the day.
In order to keep costs down as much as possible we will not be giving out T shirts on the day, however, there are a limited supply of T shirts available with the Bunny logo which will be on sale on the day. They will cost £2.50 each or £4 for 2. Get to Beacon Hill early to ensure you get one as when they are gone then they are gone!
The start will be combined 10 km and 5 km with the 10 km at the front. This will be at 11.00 am and Jo Hayward of Radio Leicester will be setting you off. This year the start will be away from the Car Park then around the field into the car park and then right and off in to the woods of Beacon Hill. Everyone does the same first loop which is just under 5 km. The 10 km runners will return to the start area but go around the field missing out the finish and go on a second loop (not the same loop as first time around) and this loop is just over 5 km. The finish for both runs will be the opposite direction to the start.
The course is drying out well at present and with fine weather forecast to the 24th we should have great conditions.
Joining on the day
Registration will be open from about 9.30 for collection of Bib Numbers and timing chips and will be in alphabetical order. A further reminder of joining will be sent in the week leading up to the Race Day.
We are delighted to announce that our sponsors have produced some great prizes including of course in the 10 km first man and first lady will have a free weekend hire of either a GT86 or the new Prius (free choice), courtesy of Farmer and Carlisle the Toyota dealers in Loughborough and Leicester. We will be publishing the complete list of prizes shortly.
That’s about it for this week, more to come soon and see you all on the 24th April 2016 - www.beaconbuunyrun.org always has the latest updates.
